The first ever in-person Weird Pride gathering will be co-hosted by AMASE at Shrub Co-op in Edinburgh on Sunday the 3rd of March, 2024, from about 4:30pm until 6:30pm (right after their regular Sewing Cafe)… Unless someone organises one somewhere else first! Feel free to pull something together wherever you are.
Come and celebrate whatever makes you weird! Or the things that boring people find weird about you… that might be your passions and perspectives, your queerness and neurodivergence, the ways you exist in this weirdly normative world.
If you’d like to, you’re invited to get up and talk about those things, or sing, or do an interpretive dance number (sign up here if you already know what you want to do). We’ll have an open mic from 5, and before that you’ll have a chance to meet and spend some time with your fellow weirdos. You can also make your own Weird Pride badge, or something else to express the things about you that people find weird.
You might like to dress fabulously, but there are no obligations.
This will be a family-friendly event, but not one geared towards children.
The Shrub cafe and shop will be selling hot drinks, vegan snacks, second-hand clothes, scrimshaws and bric-a-brac.
Some photos of the space follow after this flyer:
Access info: The entire venue is on the ground floor, with an accessible toilet. There is one step at the entrance, but a ramp is available. We will likely use some amplification to ensure that performers and speakers can be heard, but no more than needed for that.
